IN THE BEGINNING
in the beginning

We have written a simple instructional pamphlet for beginners and teachers. Material quantities are listed by project so the instructor may accurately calculate the quantities needed for a particular group or class size. We have started with the the wooden base. This is the most basic of basket construction. Two projects the pencil holder and the heart are on wooden bases. Two the simple basket and the hot pad are on a simple woven base. All projects are randed ( woven with one weaver) from either No.3 or 4 round reed. These projects are ideal for church, scout and school groups. ------------------------  $4.00
CHEROKEE TOTE BASKET PATTERN

This basket is a traditional pattern of the Eastern Cherokee. Woven with 1/2 inch flat reed the finished basket is aproximently 18 x 12 x 7 inches. This basket makes an excellent sized tote or storage basket. The basket requires 2 pounds of flat reed one natural and the other either smoked or dyed, two bushel handles, 5/8 flat oval for the rim and 1/4 flat oval for the lashing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $4.00
FIGURE EIGHT FLOWER BASKET PATTERN

This basket has a unique figure 8 style handle which is formed from heavy reed. The pictured basket has been woven from a variety of reed sea grass and natural materials. -----------------------$4.00

This bit of native American folk lore is designed to filter your dreams allowing only the good to pass. Before the Anasazi, there was the "Desert Culture" in the American Southwest. These people were here for between nine thousand and three thousand years ago. They wove baskets and sandals Among their artifacts were a series of twig figurines of game animals,& hese figures made from willow or cotton wood twigs are easily replicated.
